What to expect.

You get the same full ScarWork session as a standard appointment. The only difference is the price. I dedicate the entire day to C-section scars, which means I am fully dialed in to the specific tissue qualities and techniques that these scars need.

A C-section cuts through seven layers of tissue: skin, subcutaneous fat, superficial fascia, the rectus sheath, the rectus abdominis muscles (which are separated rather than cut), the peritoneum, and the uterus. Each of these layers forms scar tissue, and those layers often get glued together. The result is the "shelf" that many women experience, along with tightness, numbness, pulling, and sometimes pain years after the surgery.

During your session, I work through each of these layers, releasing the adhesions and restoring the independent gliding that each layer needs. Most women notice visible and palpable changes in their first session. The scar softens, the shelf begins to release, and sensation often begins to return.

Who should come.

  • You had a C-section and your scar still feels tight, numb, or restricted
  • You have the "shelf" or overhang above your scar
  • You experience pulling or discomfort in your lower abdomen
  • Your C-section was years ago and you assumed nothing could be done
  • You are 8+ weeks post-C-section and your physician has cleared you
  • You want to try scar work at a reduced cost before committing to full-price sessions

C-Section Day FAQ

Questions, answered.

Should I choose 30 minutes or 60 minutes?

+

If this is your first scar work session, I recommend 60 minutes. That gives me time to assess the full scar and work through all the layers. The 30-minute option works well for follow-up sessions or smaller scars.

What should I wear?

+

Loose, comfortable pants that sit below or can be rolled below your C-section scar. A top that can be lifted to expose the scar area. You will be fully clothed except for the area around the scar.

Can I come if I had more than one C-section?

+

Absolutely. Multiple C-sections often create more complex scar tissue because each surgery cuts through the previous scar. These scars respond very well to ScarWork.

How soon after a C-section can I come?

+

Typically 8 to 15 weeks post-surgery, once the incision is fully closed and your OB has cleared you. If you are unsure, ask your doctor if you are cleared for manual therapy.
